Message After 20 years the foam in Z32 seats has seen better days. especially damaged are the the backrest and cushion door side bolsters. You need to consdider repair cost for those. Not available from Nissan any longer. I would suspect a shorter than OEM life after repair.

The other issue is seat height. Many reports on the fora mention that aftermarket seats fit an inch or more higher due to the brackets and sliders. This is by far the worst problem as the Z does not have an adjustable steering wheel.

Fit for aftermarket covers is not quite as good as OEM. Notice that Nissan used "decking" or "top stitiching" rather than "frenching" or "double needling". A seam is much stonger if decked unless frenching is done with a backstrip. A special machine is needed for that.

All alternatives have their drawbacks. I have decided to install a set of seats from another car rather than cover or purchase and aftermaerket seat whose fabric will look like crap is a few months, all while being far less comfortable than any OEM seat.

That being said, if you do not want to add weight to your Z, aftermarket is your only choice.
